[edit] Download[edit] Official ReleasesYou want to download the newest build? Than take a look at our Downloadsection and download the latest package (highest build number) for your OS. Note: If you use Linux, there may be precompiled packages for your Distribution, just look up the package sources.
The packages containing the tag source are the source packages for this release, they usually come in two flavors: ZIP and TAR.BZ2. Both archives contain exactly the same content. To run Widelands after downloading, just take a look at the following sections and read the one for your OS.
Download the setup-file, double-click it and follow the instructions. You will be allowed to create a desktop shortcut and the like.
Unpack the BZIP2 (tar -xvjf ) or ZIP file.
Install as every *.dmg file.
[edit] Getting the Source CodeThere are two ways to get a source code. First is, to download the source of a build number at the Project Page. Note that you have to download the binary package as well, since only they contain the data file needed to play Widelands. The second possibility to get widelands is to retrieve it by SVN. If you plan to join development or are just interested in the latest inventions you should go for this. All you need is SVN with SSL installed. Type in the console: svn co https://widelands.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/widelands/trunk widelands ...now accept the the certificate permanently... And you're done.
[edit] SVN-Builds for WindowsIf you can't wait for the next release of widelands and can't compile a SVN-build yourself, you can download the newest SVN-build for Win32 at http://xoops.widelands.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=478&forum=5 |
